What is the squad?
The squad is a junior training and match play program for players under 18 to play against other squads and regional zones in Victoria. There are three tournaments held throughout terms 2 & 3 of the school year. There are six training sessions held throughout the year, plus the three tournaments and an additional invitation only tournament if players have performed well in the previous three tournaments. The tournament age groups are from 18/U down to 12/U in both boys and girls divisions. Players compete individually but the squad’s finishing position will be determined by the overall performance of the squad and that of every single player combined. The squad can accommodate for 40 players but can only send 32 players to participate in each tournament. The tournaments are held at Bendigo Tennis Centre. The training sessions are held at various MRTA tennis clubs.
Who can play?
Anyone that plays for a registered club in the MRTA junior competition and is aged between 10 & 17. The squad is open to players of any ability level in the above age bracket. We also very strongly encourage players in the squad to also participate in the MRTA JUNIOR CLASSIC tournament that is held during the school holidays between term two and three. All players will be given an entry form in June at training session number 4.
